Miami-Dade School Board Discusses Reopening Plans

Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho meeting with medical, health, business leaders and parents and teachers today to discuss reopening plans for the upcoming school year. Kalyn Lee, a 10th grade English teacher at Miami Carol City Senior High, thinks it's too dangerous to start 5-days a week in August with the COVID-19 cases spiking daily. But she worries distance learning or a hybrid schedule will lead to disparity issues for students who have no access to wifi in their homes. The School Board will present its reopening plan on Wednesday. United Teachers of Dade have until 5 this afternoon to vote on their new contract giving teachers a 47-thousand-500-dollar starting salary.
