- Florida reported its lowest daily case count for COVID-19 case since June 23rd, however the state’s testing dropped by 30% over the weekend as all state operated testing sites were offline during to Isaias. All state-run testing sites will be online today.
- It’s not just animal adoptions which have risen during the pandemic. According to the Children’s Home Society of Florida, adoptions of children have significantly risen in recent months and they’ve now exceeded their adoption goals for 2020. The agency averages placing 600 children per year.
- According to a report by Yelp, over 3 thousand businesses in the TriCounty have permanently closed since April during the lockdowns. The average small business employs 20 people indicating a permanent job loss of approximately 60,000 employees in these businesses.
- The Florida Department of Education approved the school reopening plans for Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. All three districts include classroom education options.
- The first day of early voting in Florida was smooth with no notable issues reported in participating districts including Palm Beach and Miami Dade counties. Use of hand sanitizer, social distancing and the switching out of pens are common.
