- Governor DeSantis indicated that he’s likely to extend the moratorium on foreclosures and evictions past the September 1st deadline. Should he do so this would be the 5th extension of the deadline. A moratorium has been in place in Florida since April 2nd.
- With just over 2,500 new COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday, Florida’s weekly average has fallen to its lowest level since June 20th. Sunday’s positivity rate was 5.1%
- FEMA approved Florida’s application for supplemental unemployment payments under President Trump’s Lost Wages Assistance program. Floridians who are unemployed due to the pandemic as of August 1st will receive an extra $300 weekly through the program. The payments will be made retroactive to August 1st as well.
- The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled in favor of the Florida Department of Education in the case involving the FEA’s effort to prevent classroom education options throughout Florida indefinitely. The appeal's court issued a stay on Leon County Judge Charles Dodson’s ruling – in favor of the FEA over the state. The Court is expected to additional guidance this week. Briefings are due for the case by September 9th.
