The race for State House, District 89 is a rematch. Two years ago, Incumbent Republican Mike Caruso defeated Democrat Jim Bonfiglio by the slimmest of margins. Now the former Ocean Ridge mayor is trying again.
"Jim thought that 32 votes last time was too close to pass up this opportunity to try again."
Caruso touts the legislation he got through the state capitol.
"Passed six bills into law that I had written and sponsored and brought back about $72 million in appropriations to District 89 and the Palm Beaches."
The first one was an anti-semitism bill.
"It put the definition of anti-semitism and codified it in our Florida statutes and it made it illegal to carry out acts of anti-semitism, based on that definition, in our K through 20 schools."
The state representative has been outspoken against former Spanish River High School Principal William Latson's email, in which he questioned the existence of the Holocaust. The school board on Monday will reconsider their vote to rehire Latson.

Multiple attempts to reach Bonfiglio were unsuccessful.
