  • As of Sunday’s update from the Florida Division of Elections, over 8.7 million Floridians had already voted. The ballot advantage for Democrats, which exceeded 650,000 prior to the start of Early Voting, stands at just 94,325 votes over Republicans. That margin is smaller than the 96,450 vote advantage Democrats had in Florida entering Election Day 2016. The final early voting numbers will be released today.
  • Florida’s average daily COVID-19 case count has risen by about 700 daily cases over the past week to reach 4,100 daily cases. That’s the highest since August 22nd. Meanwhile...
  • The seasonal flu remains below usual levels entering November in Florida and across the country. The CDC’s updated flu map shows only three Florida counties have any flu outbreaks (none in South Florida) and flu is only present in 24 of Florida’s 67 counties. Florida’s flu exposure is categorized as “minimal” according to the CDC and the trend is stable.
  • A study from researchers at Washington University on green iguanas shows they may be adapting to colder temperatures. In the study, researchers found that as recently as four years ago, iguanas were only able to fully tolerate temperatures as low as 46 degrees. In the study, South Florida’s green iguanas are now able to function with temperatures as low as 44 degrees.
