- On Monday Governor DeSantis announced Florida’s schools will remain open through the remainder of the school year. He called the decision to close them when the pandemic began a mistake, while stating keeping them open is a matter of public health.
- Florida’s economy continues to outperform all economic estimates. The October revenue report from the Legislature’s Office of Economic & Demographic Research, showed Florida producing more tax revenue in October than was projected for the month prior to the pandemic. The state exceeded current economic estimates by greater than $313 million. 90% of all tax revenue to the state was collected through sales tax revenue.
- With three vaccine candidates likely to be made available for use within a matter of weeks, Florida state representative Anthony Sabatini has introduced a bill for the upcoming state session which would ban governments from mandating COVID immunizations. Speaking of vaccines...
- Governor DeSantis announced Florida is expected to receive approximately 2 million COVID vaccine doses by year end. The number is enough to immunize greater than ten percent of Florida’s population. The Florida Department of Health has outlined a three-phase plan prioritizing at-risk Floridians.
