Jupiter Woman's Body Found After Husband Agrees To Plea Deal In Her Murder

A Florida man has led police to the body of his wife after making a deal with authorities who were investigating her murder.

"As part of the plea, David Anthony pled guilty to second degree murder, kidnapping and will be sentenced to 38 years in prison."

Jupiter Police Chief Dan Kerr says 51-year old Gretchen Anthony went missing back in March, not long after she filed for divorce from 44-year old David Anthony, who was arrested in New Mexico.

Investigators say he tried to pawn his wife's jewelry in Pensacola after fleeing South Florida.

Police say Anthony also used his wife's cell phone to cover up his crime, texting someone as Gretchen, claiming to be hospitalized with COVID-19.

The victim's remains were buried in a wooded area, not far from the couple's home.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg says that while prosecutors never like to give someone charged with murder less than life in prison, the family requested they make a deal with the defendant.

"This deal was in place because the family wanted a proper memorial, a proper burial for Gretchen."

The woman's family includes her mother, sister and 12-year old daughter.

Aronberg also contends that without having found her body, it may have been difficult to get a jury to find Anthony guilty in the woman's murder.
