2 Men Charged With Posing As Federal Agents To Avoid Wearing Masks

The feds have charged two men with posing as U.S. Marshals to avoid wearing face masks at a South Florida hotel.

Investigators say 81-year old Gary Brummett and 53-year old Walter Wayne Brown Junior were each told to put on masks when they showed up at the front desk of a Wyndham resort in Deerfield Beach last week.

In separate instances, both men were wearing badges, appearing to show they were Marshals working on a Cherokee tribal ground and told the hotel manager that he could be arrested for forcing them to wear a mask.

They also flashed cards, which claim they are exempt from mask-wearing.

Hotel staff reached out to law enforcement to determine whether their claims were legitimate and that's when Brummett and Brown were arrested.

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg last year warned that these cards, claiming the holder is exempt from wearing a face mask, have no legal authority.
