Parler is back & its hosting is based in the USA
Bottom Line: Going forward my preferred social media platform will be Parler - where at least I know I won’t be throttled, shadow banned, censored or unverified without explanation. This is all part of what I cited in my January 13th story, The Power of Parler. Anyway, at the time of Parler’s de-platforming by Amazon’s webhosting services, all webhosting services based in the US which had the scale to hub Parler and its 20+ million users banded together to freeze out the free speech platform. For a time the only way Parler.com could have a splash page was through an offshore hosting service out of Russia. What does it tell out about the censorship in Silicon Valley when a company has to leave this country to find someone who will even host a splash webpage?
Anyway, despite the effort by most news media to portray Parler as a “right-wing” platform (Parler is no more a “right-wing” platform than Twitter is a left-wing platform – though you never hear it reported as such) to ironically encourage censorship of it, the company has landed a hosted service in the US. In fact, it’s based out of Los Angeles of all places. Upstart SkySilk Cloud has decided to stand up for the First Amendment and thus host Parler. In a note from the company they stated:
Amen. And though our First Amendment and related values are clearly threatened in today’s cancel culture/censorship society. Skysilk is evidence that this country still works. That given the opportunity the market will provide solutions and find a way. And that it’s more important as Americans that we stand on principal than simply with political preferences. See you on Parler. And as an aside, if you need webhosting services and you value freedom – you should be talking to Skysilk...they’re literally the only service who took a stand for it.
