In our Election Spotlight, what was a three candidate race, is now down to two.
Roderick Clarke was disqualified from the race for West Palm Beach City Commission District 2 for not living in the district, though Clarke denies that.
FAU professor Deandre Poole was born and raised in the Pleasant City neighborhood of West Palm. He was in the news for what became known as the "stomp on Jesus" class exercise back in 2013.
"The irony in this is that I am an ordained minister and that particular assignment, it was mischaracterized."
Poole explains it more in-depth. He was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Poole says he's running to be an independent voice.
The other candidate actively in the race for this open seat is Shalonda Warren, CEO of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County.
"West Palm Beach has been definitely something that I've been celebrating and a part of for a very long time."
Among her platforms, she wants to create local jobs.
Poole lists affordable housing among his concerns.
The seat was held by Cory Neering for six years, but he decided not to run for re-election this time around.
The race is open to residents of District 2 in West Palm Beach.
