The City of Lake Worth Beach reported more than 13,000 customers of its electric utility being without power earlier Thursday.
A city spokesman says a transformer in the utility's main yard tripped around 12:30 p.m. and crews were on site immediately, making repairs.
Just before 1 p.m., he said customers had already been getting their power back on.
Lake Worth Beach is one of Florida's few municipalities that delivers its own electricity to residents and businesses.
