For Protecting the Palm Beaches, Friday marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputy George Clem Douglas.

August 27th, 1921, Douglas was responding to a theft involving a worker from a labor camp near the locks for the Miami Canal in what is now Lake Harbor.

The deputy was shot through a window by the suspect. He died instantly. The suspect fled the scene and was never caught, despite an extensive manhunt spanning several counties.

PBSO is hosting a 100th anniversary Memorial Ceremony to Honor Deputy Douglas.

It's happening at the Old Miami Canal Lock Site, at 10 a.m.
