Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County wrapped up its "Over the Edge" fundraiser on Saturday.

Volunteers Rappelled 19-stories down the Phillip's Point building in downtown West Palm Beach and more than $92,000 was raised.

The money raised helps build new and affordable homes for hard working families, who help build their own homes, as well as revitalizing lower-income neighborhoods.

Habitat's CEO Bernie Godek led the way on Friday by jumping in the harness before many others who also raised funds through sponsors for months ahead of the event.

Habitat's Chief Development Officer Amy Mauser says that as families in our area struggle to find affordable housing, this fundraising event was needed more than ever.

“The Palm Beach County median home price has increased nearly 30% over the last year, making the dream of homeownership more difficult for many families in our community. Habitat for Humanity has an increasingly critical role in ensuring that families in our community have the help they need to build strength and stability through shelter."
