- Florida reported 3,515 new Covid cases on Thursday dropping the weekly trend for daily cases to 4,004 – the lowest since December 15th. Cases are now 94% below peak levels.
- As noted by Governor DeSantis during his CPAC speech on Thursday, Florida’s experienced the highest level of relocations during the pandemic. New research from the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research has confirmed the top reasons for relocations to Florida have been – 1. lower taxes 2. affordability 3. weather 4. - Florida’s growing property insurance issues are likely to lead to another sharp spike in insurance premiums again this year. According to analysis from the Insurance Information Institute, the average Florida property insurance premium is likely to increase by about $1,100 this year. Florida already has the highest insurance costs nationally with premiums averaging $3,600 - about three times the national average.
- Governor DeSantis signed nine bills into law on Thursday including legislation extending COVID-19 liability protections for health care service providers over the next year.
