Governor DeSantis has followed through on a promised veto of the Congressional redistricting map approved by the Florida Legislature. The state needs a new map because the state is gaining one congressional seat due to the population growth shown in the 2020 Census.

Subsequent to the veto, he’s called a special session for the purpose of drafting a new map and to potentially consider other issues including property insurance reform and considering condo building maintenance standards after last year’s collapse of Champlain Towers South.

The special session will take place from April 19th through the 22nd.
