- Two weeks away from Election Day. The DeSantis-Crist debate is done and it’s looking increasingly likely that Florida’s original Orangeman and favorite political chameleon, Charlie Crist will be too, in two weeks. Nate Silver’s 538, the favorite prognostication service of the political left shows Crist with just a 4% chance of winning. And the news for him gets worse from there. The RealClear Politics prognostication shows America’s governor winning the election by nearly 15-points. A margin which, if it came to pass, would be the largest in a governor’s race in Florida in 40 years - when Bob Graham was governor and Democrats ruled the roost. In other words, what’s shaping up in Florida with Election Day just two weeks away is potentially historic. How historic? If DeSantis were to win by anything close to that margin, it would be the largest margin of victory by any Republican gubernatorial candidate in Florida since 1868. Yes, 1868 – when Harrison Reed rode Abraham Lincoln’s coattails to beat George Scott in an election with a total of 22,152 votes cast statewide. Thinking back to the tense final weeks in Florida four years ago, and just how close we came to having Tallahassee’s favorite bisexual criminal, Andrew Gillum, running our state – it's somewhat stunning just how much has changed. But the reason Florida’s political landscape has seemingly changed so profoundly in just four years is primarily because freedom works, and Governor DeSantis fought for it for us. But of course, it’s imperative we follow through and vote to make it a reality and send a message not just across our state but across the country. But speaking of our state, if Governor DeSantis wins by a historic margin you can count on a record number of elected Republicans top to bottom in our state government as well. And that prospect is as likely as ever because yet again...
- Republicans have set voter registration records in Florida. The most recent voter registration information from the Florida Division of Elections is in reflecting all registered voters in our state as of the start of October and the survey says... Republicans now hold a 292,533-registration voter advantage over Democrats in Florida. Not only is that a new record for Republicans yet again, but it’s also a gain net of Democrats of 22,889 voters in the last month alone. In other words, Republicans don’t just have the momentum in the polls in Florida, Republicans have all of the momentum with those who’ve registered to go to the polls in Florida. How dramatic has the shift in voters been? There are nearly 20,000 fewer registered Democrats in the state of Florida today compared to four years ago. There are over 540,000 more Republican voters than four years ago. That’s some serious mo’. I’ve long said one day South Florida would save this country from itself because immigrants here know what socialism is, as they’ve lived it. This is the election cycle where it can all come together. The cycle where Floridians begin to save this country from itself by converting a record Republican voter registration advantage into electing record numbers of Republicans up and down the ballot, all while rejecting leftist local government efforts to raise our already extraordinarily high taxes still further. Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County broke for Democrats two years ago by the smallest margins in each counties' history. If either county were to flip this cycle – the message would be heard well beyond South Florida. This election cycle can be the beginning of exporting the freedom we’ve enjoyed across the country and saving it from those who’ve most recently taken it for granted. Speaking of which...
- It wasn’t COVID-19 that killed education outcomes... It was failed policy from politicians and teachers' unions who closed schools down and fought to keep them that way. While the “Nations Report Card” showed the largest decline of reading and math comprehension in our country’s history – when measuring 2019’s results to this years’ results. There was a clear story told based upon the policy of the state during the pandemic. Florida’s 4th and 8th grade students, where the assessments are taken, achieved their highest ranking ever. As Governor DeSantis said: We insisted on keeping schools open and guaranteed in-person learning in 2020 because we knew there would be widespread harm to our students if students were locked out. Today’s results once again prove that we made the right decision. We also knew that younger and at-risk students would be the most impacted if schools were closed, and the results speak for themselves. In Florida our 4thgrade students rank #3 in Reading and #4 in Math, achieving top 4 in both English and Math for the first time in state history, while lockdown California and New York aren’t even in the top 30. So, while the mainstream narrative in reporting the national results is that Covid killed education outcomes. False. Failed politicians, which adhered to the will of the teachers' unions, killed education outcomes. Floridians continued to flourish with the most progress of any students in any state during the pandemic.
