- Let’s get real. As in the real story behind the motivation in Monday’s horrific attack on Louisville’s Old National Bank. Yes, the attacker Connor Sturgeon was a bank employee. Yes, he was told he was being let go. No, there’s no doubt that was the catalyst behind Monday’s murderous attack. But that’s where the story in most news reporting currently stops. A young, disturbed man on a murderous revenge rampage that’s a different version of a similar thing that we’ve far too often seen in our society. Except that’s not entirely the case. The calls for gun control are once again very loud, including inappropriately by the liberal Louisville mayor, who in Tuesday’s media briefing on the updated facts used the presser to advance his personal political gun control objectives. And this is where we need to get real. By doing so, he was giving the murderous attacker exactly what he asked for. So, here’s the rest of the story of one Connor Sturgeon. He was a hardcore and vocal leftist political activist. While the accounts have now been taken down, from Instagram to Reddit, he had a long, multi-year history of berating and at times threatening conservatives, expletive laden rants against Donald Trump, including during his time as president and support of the Black Lives Matter movement. He also had this as one of his final posts on Instagram just prior to the live stream of his attack: THEY WON'T LISTEN TO WORDS OR PROTESTS. LET'S SEE IF THEY HEAR THIS. Now this is where one can...
- Connect the dots. Here we have a young leftist activist with a disturbing history of social media posts that were A) Tolerated by all related social media companies (I wonder if one used the same social media platforms to threaten Joe Biden and Democrats how long those posts would remain and how long until the user would be suspended?) B) Seemingly ignored by all around him including his employer. Or for that matter his father who just the day before the attack retweeted a Gregg Popovich video talking about the need for gun control while saying: Pop used final 10 minutes of his pre-game presser to slam cowardly, oblivious legislators for their inaction on gun control in wake of the mass shootings that have plagued America. The apple didn’t fall from the tree in that regard. Because while what happened would otherwise seem horrifically ironic, we have a clear indication the father’s intent was his son’s demented mission. Connor Sturgeon quite clearly purchased an AR-15 and set out to kill everyone in the bank he’d worked at in an effort to advance gun control efforts. As he stated: They won’t listen to words or protests. Let’s see if they hear this. Now, these extremely relevant details are not being widely reported. As per usual, the gun control message is. Which is mission accomplished for the attacker. Fashioned as a workplace revenge murderous rampage, which it was, it was also a clearly politically motivated attack on innocent people. That’s what’s real and the rest of the story. But it doesn’t fit the narrative so don’t expect to hear it elsewhere. Meanwhile, his fellow leftist activists from the Louisville mayor to most in news media will be more than happy to advance the killer’s cause – because that does fit the narrative.
- The Bigger Picture. It was just in yesterday’s Q&A I spoke of the importance of faith in mental health outcomes. Less faith = fewer happier and productive people. It’s been proven, it stands to reason and yet our society continues to head the other way. And this is what we get. When you remove God from the picture what are you left with? In the absence of good is there not evil? And if hate is proliferated on social media sites for years, is that not an indication of a bigger problem? Yet still the focus remains on inanimate objects, instead of the lost and broken people who use them to harm others. If guns never existed, but you still had people filled with hatred for others, our problems wouldn’t be fixed. The attacks would just look different. We can have a better society with happier people and less mental health illness. It simply requires placing a priority on faith. But will our society, will we, be willing to take even the simplest of steps to get there? That’s the bigger picture. And that’s what’s missing most from our society right now.
