- Torrential rain which dropped up to 20 inches in parts of Broward and specifically Fort Lauderdale, resulted in the closure of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International airport. - Silver Airways, which provides the most flights out of South Florida to the Bahamas, is on the brink of losing its lease at FLL. The airline is reportedly behind on lease payments and could soon be dropped by the airport.
- Recent movers in the state legislative session included The Authorization of Restrictions Concerning Dogs bill. The legislation, which would end local bans on specific dog breeds, passed the Senate with only one dissenting vote. The bill is ready for a vote before the full House as well. The Postsecondary Educational Institutions bill, which would mandate the Board of Governors of the State University System establish a committee on Public Policy Events, ensuing diverse voices are allowed to be heard on college campuses unanimously passed its second senate committee. The House version is ready for a final committee hearing as well.
- Gas prices dropped a penny Wednesday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.57 per gallon – 9 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price remained $3.75 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
