- Recent movers in the state legislative session included the Operation of a Golf Cart bill. The bill which would ban those who lack a driver’s license or learners permit from driving a golf cart on roads, passed its final house committee and is ready for a vote before the full chamber. It has two more senate committee stops to go in the other chamber. The Hemp bill passed its final house committee hearing and is ready for a vote before the full chamber. The legislation defines hemp as food and dictates that hemp containing THC may not be sold to those under 21. It has one more senate committee stop before a potential full floor vote. The Recission or Cancellation of a Motor Vehicle Sale bill, which would allow Floridians up to 60 days to return a used car they’ve purchased, passed the key House Ways and Means committee in an unanimous vote. The Senate companion has passed two committees with one more stop before a potential full vote.
- Gas prices rose by 6 cents per gallon Monday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.62 per gallon – 4 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is now $3.80 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state. In better related news...
- Fuel shortages at gas stations due to last week’s historic flooding in Broward, have mostly been resolved. Fuel terminals at Port Everglades were operating at close to normal capacity on Monday allowing trucks to restore supplies at many gas strapped stations throughout the day and through the night.
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is coming under heavy criticism as they’ve charged parking fees for those who had their cars parked onsite while the airport was closed last week. Broward County operates the parking garages at the airport and haven’t offered a response. FLL was closed for approximately an hour again yesterday due to the afternoon thunderstorms.
