- The disturbance off South Florida’s coast has dissipated, along with the wind and rain. Today will be a beautiful day for the entire east coast of Florida. The disturbance in the South Caribbean Sea has developed into a potential tropical cyclone with winds of 35 mph. It’s expected to develop into a tropical storm on the approach to eastern Cuba today and as it passes through the eastern Bahamas tomorrow.
- Several communities experienced unexpected damage following the impact of the tropical disturbance which brought heavy winds and rain to the area over the past few days. Damage has been observed throughout the Palm Beaches from eastern communities to The Acreage – which commonly included downed trees and powerlines. Notably, the Dune Deck Café at Lantana Beach is closed indefinitely following the collapse of its canopy.
- After three days of public comments Wellington officials have approved the Wellington Lifestyle Partners proposal to convert 96 acres of the equestrian preserve into luxury golf course communities which will be known as “The Wellington”. As part of the proposal the developer will donate 50 acres of land for an equestrian park.
- Gas prices have hit a new low for the year for a fourth straight day dropping three cents a gallon. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.08 per gallon – 15 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.28 per gallon and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
