- The US Supreme Court has blocked Florida’s law making it illegal for adult live performances to take place at venues where children are present. Earlier this year a federal court blocked the law from taking effect and the Supreme Court has decided to allow the injunction against the law to stand while it considers whether it will take up the case.
- The annual Census Survey estimates show Florida having gained the most citizens for a second year in a row. Florida’s population grew by 249,000 people over the past year fueled by migration into the state from states like New York and California. Florida has also experienced the highest net wealth migration of any state as well – with Palm Beach County being the second biggest beneficiary of relocated net wealth in the country over the past year.
- Palm Beach International Airport is the fastest growing airport in South Florida. Exiting the Thanksgiving weekend PBI is pacing a 15% increase in air travel year-over-year with over 7.5 million passengers served year-to-date which is approximately 3 million more than pre-pandemic levels. By comparison Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport is still pacing below pre-pandemic passenger levels.
- It appears that we’ll have a quiet end to hurricane season this week with the National Hurricane Center not expecting any activity the rest of the way. A cold front has made its way into our area with lows in the 50’s this morning. Temperatures range from 6 to 14 degrees below seasonal norms and will remain lower than usual through Thursday.
- Gas prices have bumped up considerably over the past day. After reaching a new low for the year Monday morning, statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.10 per gallon – 9 cents higher than yesterday and 5 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.27 per gallon and in Indian River County the average is $3.09 per gallon.
