- Officials from Stuart and Fort Pierce began formal discussions with Brightline on Wednesday regarding their proposed locations for a Treasure Coast station. Officials within Martin County have proposed locations near the county courthouse or by the county fairgrounds. In St. Lucie County officials are proposing a location near the Sunrise Theater or near the former H.D. King Plant. Brightline will consider all proposals submitted by December 22nd before taking next steps.
- Rivera Beach has approved a new housing development at North Military Trail and Leo Lane. The development, which will be called Soleste on the Trail, will include 315 homes consisting of 60 townhomes and 255 multi-family units.
- Another arcade operating as an illegal gambling operation has been busted. The Moonlight Express Arcade in Sebastian was raided by law enforcement Wednesday. The raid follows an October 20th visit by law enforcement which warned the arcade of potentially illegal operations following a series of similar crackdowns throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.
- The tropics are quiet as we close out this year’s hurricane season. Warmer temperatures have made their way to Florida today. Lows overnight were 8 to 10 degrees warmer than Wednesday morning and seasonally normal temperatures are expected today before still warmer air makes its way into our area heading into the weekend.
- Gas prices rose for a third straight day. After reaching a new low for the year Monday morning, prices have risen by 16 cents per gallon over the past three days. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.17 per gallon – a penny higher than yesterday and 14 cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.34 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.24 and in Indian River County the average is $3.18 per gallon.
