- As the second to last week in the state’s legislative session gets underway today several high-profile pieces of legislation will come into focus. Including the proposal to require local governments have a minimum two-thirds vote majority to raise millage rates, a proposed term-limits bill for county commissioners, legislation that would lower the age required to purchase a firearm to 18 among others. - Governor DeSantis has said he’ll sign the bill into law which will require the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s grand jury case records from the 2006 Palm Beach case which led to his conviction and an 18-month jail sentence at the time. Governor DeSantis has yet to say if he’ll sign the proposed social media ban for children under 16 – though he’s expressed reservations about the version that was passed in the legislature as it doesn’t include parental opt-ins.
- Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer have made the permeant relocation to Florida from California official. The Stallone’s purchased a home on Palm Beach in 2021 that will serve as their fulltime residence.
- Lake Worth Beaches’ 30th annual Street Painting Festival featured over 600 artists with an estimated crowd of over 100,000 visitors to see the street displays throughout downtown’s streets including Lake and Lucerne Ave.
- Cooler weather today with highs in the low to mid 70’s – about three degrees cooler than usual for this date. A warming trend is expected to begin tomorrow.
- Gas prices dropped a few cents over the weekend. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is $3.30 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.49 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.36 and in Indian River County the average is $3.32 per gallon.
