  • Governor DeSantis has deployed over 250 state law enforcement officers and guard troops to South Florida, along with extensive land and sea equipment, to combat the influx of Haitian migrants attempting to illegally enter Florida. Florida has seen a rise in Haitian vessels attempting to access the state following the increased instability in the country’s government recently. DeSantis anticipates the volume will continue to increase. The deployment of personnel and equipment will span from Key West through southeast Florida’s coastline.  
  • One of the three illegal immigrants from Guatemala arrested for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman near John Prince Park on Monday was cited by the Palm Springs Police Department for driving without a license in January. The state attorney dropped charges against the illegal immigrant after he paid $100 and completed a diversion program.  
  • Early voting for the March 19th Presidential Preference primary and municipal elections continues today. In Palm Beach County early voting will continue through Sunday. Over 10% of eligible voters have either voted early or by mail thus far. In Martin and Indian River Counties early voting runs through Saturday. Martin County voter turnout currently stands at about 6% with turnout in Indian River County now over 14%.  
  • A raccoon in Sewall’s Point has tested positive for rabies. Health authorities are recommending residents, and their pets, avoid contact with wildlife. 
  • Another warm day today with highs in the low 80’s, or about four degrees warmer than usual for this date. Temperatures are expected to remain warmer than usual, rising into the upper 80’s over the weekend. 
  • Gas prices rose five cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is currently $3.43 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.57 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.46 and in Indian River County the average is $3.41 per gallon.
