- Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has issued an advisory regarding what experts call the 100 deadliest days for teen drivers of the year. From Memorial Day through Labor Day Florida’s teens were involved in over 20,000 auto accidents last year resulting in an average of six fatalities per week. Moody notes that teens are three times more likely to die in an auto accident compared to adults. She recommends parents discuss the basics with their kids including the importance of not using mobile devices while driving.
- A new real-estate analysis by Norada Real Estate Investments suggests that Florida’s real estate market will avoid a major correction in prices – returning to typical rates of appreciation instead. In the analysis, Norada suggests that starting with 2024, Florida’s average price for real estate will appreciate by 3% to 5% annually through 2028. A strong economy and continued strong net migration patterns are cited for Florida’s market largely avoiding a correction that many other states have been experiencing.
- A brush fire near I-95 and Donald Ross Road that broke out late in the afternoon Monday was quickly contained by Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue. The fire which broke out after 4pm and that caused a temporary closure of Donald Ross Road started on a two-acre tract of land quickly spreading to ten acres. Within approximately an hour and a half the fire was contained and there were no injuries or damaged property.
- Following a series of record high temperatures across Florida on Monday, it will be hot again today with highs in the low 90’s which is about 11 degrees higher than usual for this date. Afternoon thunderstorms are possible. Today is expected to be the hottest day of the week with temps gradually cooling towards seasonal norms later in the week.
- Gas prices dropped four cents per gallon over the weekend though they remain higher than a week ago. The average price statewide for regular unleaded is currently $3.50 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.70 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.57 and in Indian River County the average is $3.42 per gallon.
