  • The Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup Champions! The Panthers won a thrilling game seven at home last night 2-1 over the Edmonton Oilers, to avoid squandering their initial 3-0 series lead and to bring the franchise and its fans their first championship in the franchises’ 30-year history. The team will soon announce details for a parade with the Stanley Cup.  
  • Governor DeSantis announced that July 5th will be an extended Independence Day holiday for state employees and offices. All state offices will be closed on the 5th and the state’s 100,000 employees are being granted an extra day off from work.  
  • An eighth-grade teacher at Osceola Creek Middle School has been arrested for allegedly engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior with at least two students. Keith Knight was booked in the Palm Beach County jail after evidence emerged that he’d had inappropriate contact outside of school with two female students. When the students were interviewed, they described inappropriate physical contact as well. The investigation is ongoing and school officials said Knight will not be returning to the school.  
  • Hooters closed approximately 40 restaurant locations on Monday including the long-standing location on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. in West Palm Beach. The Atlanta based chain has approximately 300 locations remaining across the country.  
  • Sewer maintenance continues along South Ocean Blvd. in Palm Beach today and tomorrow will cause lane closures. The closures will take place between 2100 and 300 South Ocean Blvd. Between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 
  • A mix of clouds and sun today with a chance of afternoon showers. Highs will be near 90 - which is about four degrees warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking one disturbance in the western Caribbean that’s expected to emerge in the Southern Gulf of Mexico over the next week. It has a 20% chance of development. 
  • Gas prices dropped a penny on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.34 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.52 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.35 and in Indian River County the average is $3.36 per gallon.
