- Florida’s population now exceeds 23 million people according to the state’s Demographic Estimating Conference. The latest estimate provided by the state agency showed Florida’s fulltime population at 23,002,597 residents as of April. Florida remains the country’s third most populous state.
- Former President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago following his address to a joint session of Congress today. Notably, Vice President Kamala Harris, who customarily would preside over the joint session address, will be at a sorority event in Indianapolis today instead. Trump will speak Friday night at 8 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center for The Believer’s Summit which is hosted by Turning Point Action.
- The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office has announced what they call High Visibility Enforcement Details at especially dangerous intersections for pedestrians and bicyclists. The increased oversight will take place from July 31st to May 9th of next year. The initiative is in response to a report that showed Palm Beach County is the 6th most dangerous for pedestrians and bicyclists out of 30 counties with a population of at least 200,000 residents in the state.
- Martin County has the third highest DUI rate in the state according to a new study from the Florida Highway Patrol. The study is based on data collected from accidents. Martin County averages about 150 DUI-related crashes per year.
- It will be sunny and hot today with highs in the lower 90’s. Temperatures will be about six degrees warmer than usual for this date. Thanks in large part to a significant Saharan dust cloud, the National Hurricane Center’s map is clear and the NHC isn’t expecting tropical activity for the next 7 days.
- Gas prices rose significantly, by another 4 cents per gallon, on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.46 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.58 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.43 and in Indian River County the average is $3.41 per gallon.
