- Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody has sued the Biden-Harris administration for failing to comply with the state’s FOIA request into the 99 illegal immigrants on the US Terror Watch list that were allowed into the interior. Moody had previously requested information from the administration to attempt to discern how many Terror Watch members, and other criminal illegal aliens, may have migrated into Florida and where they may be. Quoting Moody: We are demanding to know reasons why the Biden administration is releasing criminal illegal aliens in U.S. prisons directly into the interior, rather than deporting them back to their country of origin. This reckless scheme could have disastrous and serious repercussions, and the American people deserve to know.
- The West Palm Beach Police Department is seeking $42,000 for the purchase of e-bikes to be used for patrol by law enforcement in Northwood and in downtown West Palm Beach. Currently the police department has 12 e-bikes in use and is seeking an expansion to increase visibility and flexibility while on patrol. The city commission will consider the measure in a meeting next Monday.
- AccuWeather, which originally suggested this year’s hurricane season would be “explosive” in its record setting preseason hurricane forecast, issued a revision downgrading their expectations for activity on Tuesday. The updated forecast now calls for “above average” activity this season, with a midpoint of 18 named storms, as opposed to the most aggressive preseason forecast AccuWeather had previously issued. The weather agency noted that the current lull in organized tropical activity is the longest during the peak weeks of hurricane season that we’ve experienced in 27 years.
- It’ll be hot today with showers possible throughout the day and highs near 90. Temperatures will be about 5 degrees warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking three disturbances, all with a low chance of development. A disturbance in the Caribbean Sea is drifting towards the Yucatan Peninsula with a 30% chance of development. A second disturbance in the southern Atlantic has a 10% chance of development and a third disturbance off the coast of Africa has a 30% chance of development over the next week.
- Gas prices dropped another 2 cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.26 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.45 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.32 and in Indian River County the average is $3.28 per gallon.
