- While in West Palm Beach on Tuesday Governor DeSantis signed an executive order directing a state investigation into Sunday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. The governor assigned the case to the Office of the Statewide Prosecutor as the suspects unlawful actions crossed multiple jurisdictions within the state. - A West Palm Beach nurse, Chelsea Walsh, told WPTV that she reported the suspect in the Trump assassination attempt, Ryan Routh, to federal authorities in 2022 after having volunteered in Ukraine. While assisting in relief efforts for victims of the Russian invasion into Ukraine, Walsh said she repeatedly observed “volatile” and “alarming” behavior prompting her to report him to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
- North Lake Way at Polmer Park Road in Palm Beach will be closed starting today for a minimum of two weeks for emergency water repair according to town officials.
- It’ll be hot today and humid again today with showers possible throughout the day and highs near 90. Temperatures will be about 5 degrees warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is currently tracking two systems. The remnants of Gordon are in the mid-Atlantic where there’s a 60% chance of reorganizing. It’s not a threat to populated areas. A new disturbance is setting up near the Yucatan Peninsula south of Cuba. It has a 20% chance of developing.
- Gas prices rose three cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.16 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.30 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.15 and in Indian River County the average is $3.11 per gallon.
