  • In advance of Hurricane Milton’s impact Governor DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 51 of Florida’s 67 counties including all counties along Florida’s east coast. The Palm Beach County Emergency Operations center is currently operating at Level 3, or enhanced monitoring of Milton’s developments. Based on current forecasting there’s a 40%-70% chance of experiencing at least sustained tropical storm force winds Wednesday as Milton crosses the state.  
  • It’ll be rainy and stormy throughout the day again today with highs in the low 80’s - slightly below average for this time of year. The National Hurricane Center is tracking four systems led by Hurricane Milton. Milton is expected to become a major hurricane later today and is currently projected to make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast with top sustained winds of 120-130 mph Wednesday night. Hurricanes Kirk and Leslie in the Atlantic aren’t a concern for the US. Another disturbance is forming off the coast of Africa and has a 30% chance of developing and isn’t a concern for the US. 
  • Today is the voter registration deadline for the November 5th general election. Voter registrations may be completed online at registertovoteflorida.gov or by visiting your local supervisor of elections office.  
  • Over 2.9 million ballots for November's Presidential election cycle have been sent out to voters statewide as requests for vote-by-mail ballots have increased significantly. 76,587 ballots have been returned to election supervisors thus far.  
  • Gas prices fell through the weekend and are a penny lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.10 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.27 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.15 and in Indian River County the average is $3.07 per gallon.
