  • The names of the six people who perished in the Spanish Lakes subdivision in St. Lucie County during a tornado strike have been released. The victims were William Cutlip, Mary Grace Viramontez, Alejandro Alonso, Roger Ammon, Sandra MacDonald and Debra Kennedy.  
  • As damage assessment continues following the historic tornadoes produced during Hurricane Milton, officials have determined that Avenir in Palm Beach Gardens experienced extensive damage. 318 homes in the community have sustained damage from the EF3 tornado that cut through the it with 47 having major damage according to FEMA with 11 that are destroyed. 
  • Fewer than 200,000 power outages remain in Florida stemming from Hurricane Milton. Almost all communities throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast have had power restored including 100% restoration in Martin County. 
  • Tolls will resume on Florida’s roads after many had been suspended over the past week in response to Hurricane Milton. 
  • All area schools in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast resume today following closures last week for Milton a scheduled day off in observance of Columbus Day yesterday. 
  • The Town of Palm Beach has announced that starting this morning, South Ocean Blvd. will be closed between South County Road and Southern Blvd. in the vicinity of Mar a Lago until further notice. This closure has commonly occurred for security reasons following the first attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.  
  • After a cool start this morning with temperatures dropping into the upper 60’s, today should be a nice day with mostly clear skies and highs in the mid 80’s -which is slightly warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking two systems. A disturbance off the coast of Africa has a 60% chance of development and is one we’ll want to keep an eye on over the next week – though all leading models show the system moving away from Florida. A second disturbance in the Western Caribbean Sea has a 30% chance of developing and is also worth keeping an eye on.   
  • Gas prices were flat on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.10 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.26 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.12 and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
