- A total of 8,189,384 Floridians, or 59% of Florida’s voters had voted via vote by mail ballots or through early voting with Republicans having outvoted Democrats by 844,829 voters entering Election Day. Turnout is about 64% in Palm Beach County, 68% in Martin and 63% in Indian River County.
- Polls will be open from 7 am to 7 pm statewide and voters will need to vote at their assigned precincts. Anyone still in possession of a vote by mail ballot should drop it off directly at a Supervisor of Elections office before 5 pm or take it to their precinct today where it can be canceled, and you may vote in person. Remember to bring a government issued photo ID with you when you go to vote.
- South Ocean Blvd. In the vicinity of Mar-a-Lago is closed until further notice. The closure from South County Road to Southern Blvd. is consistent with the regular closures that have taken place since the first assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in July. It has been reimplemented due to heightened security measures put in place by the Secret Service due to presidential election. Trump will be voting at his precinct today and is hosting an Election Night Watch Party at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
- It’ll be cloudy with afternoon rain possible and with a wind advisory in place. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible throughout the day with highs in the low to mid 80’s, a little warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking two systems. Tropical Storm Rafael is expected to develop into a hurricane today as it passes through the Cayman Islands and western Cuba. It’s then expected to continue through the Gulf tracking towards Louisiana, though a landfall isn’t certain. Gradual weakening back into a tropical storm is expected as it advances through the Gulf. A disturbance near the Leeward Islands has a 20% chance of developing over the next seven days.
- After reaching lows for the year gas prices jumped by eight cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.09 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.26 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.14 and in Indian River County the average is $3.11 per gallon.
