- PBSO announced significant progress has been made towards taking down a major South Florida drug trafficking ring. In a joint operation with multiple law enforcement agencies, led by the DEA, PBSO announced the arrests of four alleged drug traffickers who’ve been operating in Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties. According to authorities, the suspects had been operating for “many years”. Authorities seized 200 grams of cocaine at the time of the arrests. The suspects have been charged with racketeering, conspiracy and drug trafficking.
- Palm Beach International Airport announced Canadian-based Porter Airlines will begin daily nonstop service to Toronto. The service is set to begin next Friday, the 22nd.
- The Village of Wellington has opened six pickleball courts for residents to use at Greenbriar Park. The courts are available to the public on a first come, first served basis daily from sunrise to sunset.
- Partly cloudy skies with cooler temps today. We’ll have highs in the low to mid 80’s - which is a little warmer than usual for this date. The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. Tropical Storm Sara is slowly moving west interacting with Honduras which is knocking down the strength and development potential of the system. Over the weekend it’s then expected to make landfall with the Yucatan Peninsula where it’s expected to dissipate with its remnants entering the Gulf.
- Gas prices rose seven cents per gallon on Thursday offsetting the decline throughout the week. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.02 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.25 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.13 and in Indian River County the average is $3.09 per gallon.
