  • The My Safe Florida Condo program, a takeoff of the popular My Safe Florida Home grant program for home upgrades, has reached its capacity for the current year. On Wednesday, the Florida Department of Financial Services announced the program had achieved its maximum number of applicants and will no longer be accepting new applications during the current fiscal year which runs through June of 2025. The condo program is new for this year and was funded with $30 million in grant assistance for condo owners and associations for hardening improvements and inspections. 
  • A multi-agency operation, involving state and local law enforcement agencies, has taken down a major retail theft operation in South Florida. Three arrests have been made involving suspects who’re charged with over 35 retail thefts targeting laundry detergent, fragrances and high-end clothing at retailers Walgreens, CVS, Publix, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. The thefts took place throughout the Palm Beaches and Broward County with the stolen goods being sold on social media platforms. Authorities began investigating the thefts that led to the arrests in March. 
  • Following a meeting of The Secret Service, Palm Beach Police and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office, regarding long term security plans for President-elect Donald Trump and his Mar-a-Lago home, it’s expected the regular road closures between South County Road and Southern Blvd. along A1A (in the vicinity of Mar-a-Lago) will remain in place for the foreseeable future.  
  • Cloudy skies to start the day with cooler air and sunny skies throughout the day as a cold front continues to make its way into our area. We’ll have highs in the mid 70’s which is a little cooler than usual for this date before much cooler temps tonight with lows in the 50’s throughout the Palm Beaches and upper 40’s for parts of the Treasure Coast. The National Hurricane Center‘s forecast is clear. There’s no expected activity for the next seven days as we head down the homestretch of hurricane season. 
  • Gas prices dropped another three cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.04 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.21 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.04 and in Indian River County the average is $3.05 per gallon.
