1,700 Say Goodbye To Delray Beach Officer Christine Braswell

The auditorium of Atlantic Community High School was filled this weekend with people remembering a Delray Beach Police Officer killed in a scooter crash in the Keys.

Christine Braswell's funeral service was held yesterday and 1,700 family members, friends, fellow officers and members of the community showed up to say goodbye.

Delray Beach Police Chief Jeffrey Goldman called the member of his SWAT team a hero, sharing stories of the only female sniper in Palm Beach County.  He talked about how she mentored teens in the explorerss program.

The crowd heard from some of those who were in the explorer program, those whom she taught at the police academy and from her father, a retired West Palm Beach police officer.

They also heard from Delray Officer Bernenda Marc, who was on the motor scooter with Braswell as the two were struck by a car in Key West April 9th.  Marc was just released from the hospital in time for the service. She said she carries Braswell's spirit with her and wants to make her proud.
