Boynton Beach Police Get Body Cams

The Boynton Beach Police Department is the latest local law enforcement agency to launch a body camera program.

The city is paying more than $500,000 over the next five years to provide cams for all 86 road patrol officers. They were assigned yesterday as a way to offer the public an unedited account of what happened during traffic stops and other calls.

Officers will also wear the cams while working any off-duty detail.

The Delray Beach, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens Police Departments have already equipped officers with cameras to wear on their uniforms.

Boynton Beach Police Chief Jeffrey Katz will share more details in our "Protecting the Palm Beaches" feature on Friday.
