Nouman Raja Claims "Stand Your Ground", Asks For Dismissal

Lawyers for a former Palm Beach Gardens police officer charged in the death of Corey Jones have filed a motion to dismiss charges against Nouman Raja, citing Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law.

The court papers, filed Thursday, state that Jones pointed a gun at Raja, who was in plain clothes and approaching the man's broken down car along the I-95 exit ramp to PGA Boulevard in the overnight hours of October 18, 2015.

The officer was in the area investigating recent car break-ins.

Raja is set to go on trial in April.
