Congressman Brian Mast wants the public to have better access to the hepatitis A vaccine.
He'll be holding a news conference Thursday to announce legislation aimed at increasing access to the vaccine for communities designated as "high risk" of an outbreak.
Palm Beach and Martin Counties are both in that category. There have been six cases this year in Palm Beach and 19 in Martin. Health officials say a source is still unknown.
Doctors are urging people to get vaccinated and wash their hands frequently and thoroughly. Hepatitis A is a contagious liver infection that is spread through fecal matter.
