  • The Palm Beach County School District approved Allison Castellano as the new principal of Spanish River High School replacing William Latson who’d been removed for questioning the validity of the Holocaust. Speaking of Latson, no additional action took place to terminate his employment. He remains “reassigned” and under investigation. However, is still employed by the school district and will be paid for the entire next school year unless additional action is taken.
  • The PBC School District also voted to start the 2020-2021 school year on August 10th. The earliest date allowed by the State of Florida. That’s two days earlier than this year. They also allocated $4 million to aid charter schools with school security as mandated by state law after withholding funds from charter schools in the prior year.
  • The first death of Lobster mini season occurred about a half mile from the Hillsboro inlet. Twenty divers have died during mini season over the past decade.
  • Carlos Curbelo ruled out a run for his previously held Congressional seat which he narrowly lost last year according to Politico. He’s considering a run for Mayor of Miami-Dade County
