  • More than 1,100 Dorian refuges from the Bahamas were brought to the Port of Palm Beach aboard the Bahamas Paradise Cruise ship, the Grand Celebration. The ship is continuing relief efforts in the Bahamas 
  • Florida is joining seven other states and D.C. in a formal antitrust probe of Facebook. At the root of the investigation are claims that Facebook has created an anti-competitive environment in social media (essentially creating a social media monopoly). Facebook is also the parent of Instagram and What’s App
  • Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber has won re-election without opposition. This after no challengers filed to run against him by the end of the day Friday.
  • Enrollment in Broward & Miami Dade’s traditional public schools has fallen for the second consecutive year as charter and private school participation has continued to grow with the use of vouchers. In Palm Beach County,enrollment in traditional public schools was higher by 315 students with charters adding an additional 900 students
