Take a nap – it's good for your heart

Bottom Line: When was the last time you heard that one? Usually napping and improved heart health aren’t exactly in the same sentence. But that’s the case with the latest study completed by the University Hospital of Lausanne in Switzerland. To be fair in the conclusion not all scientists were convinced of the results that were produced but what did occur was this...

In a study of 3,500 adults, those who napped at least once a week had a 48% lower risk of a heart attack or stroke over a five-year period. Now, when I say all researchers weren’t convinced of the results... The unknown was this...why do some people take more frequent naps? The reasons may not be ideal as naps are most generally a byproduct of not getting enough sleep at night. But at the same time those who nap rather than power through may be still doing their bodies a bigger favor by listening to them rather than hitting some more caffeine and moving on. Listening to our bodies might be the biggest take away of all in this study. Happy napping.
