  • At the start of the school year just seven school districts statewide allowed for full access of the state’s Guardian program. That number now stands at 11 as four additional districts have opened the option to school employees, including teachers over the past month. A total of 38 school districts now enable at least some portion of the Guardian program.
  • The four employees arrested for their roles in the wrongful death of 12 residents of the now defunct Hollywood Hills Rehabilitation Center were charged on Monday. Prosecutors found evidence that led to the employees being charged in nine of the 12 deaths and authorities have stated an ongoing investigation may lead to additional arrests. 
  • For the second consecutive year Florida has been determined to be the most dangerous state for walking based on research from Smart Growth America which has studied pedestrian deaths over the past ten years using info from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.While above average rates of pedestrian deaths were observed statewide-Orlando, Kissimmee and Sanford are the most dangerous for pedestrians in the state & country. 
  • The state’s investigation into 89 doctors responsible for 56% of the state’s medical marijuana recommendations has revealed one doctor, Gregory Sonn, in Fort Myers is responsible for 2.5% of the entire state’s medical marijuana recommendations.The state has been reviewing potential abuses in the system – no charges have been brought to date.
