  • While Florida has experienced a rise in COVID cases along with the rest of the country, the daily average case count over the past week has declined over a week ago. The currently daily average is 7,749 cases which remains over 4,200 below the average highs in July.
  • Florida’s small businesses are likely to be the biggest losers of the huge shift to online shopping during the peak of the holiday shopping season due to the pandemic. According to VISA, only 24% of cardholders are currently shopping at small businesses. This compares to a September survey which suggested 86% of people intended to shop at local businesses during the holidays.
  • Florida’s gas prices averaged $2.03 over the Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a ten percent decrease over a year ago and the lowest average price for gas during the holidays since 2009. Related...
  • While last Wednesday was the busiest air travel day since the pandemic began, overall air traffic averaged a 60% decline over a year ago.
  • Starting today, the Broward School District is instituting a policy requiring most virtual students to use cameras during classes in order to be counted as present. Miami-Dade has enforced the camera policy since the onset of the school year.
