Jupiter's Police Chief, Retires In February, Touts Community Involvement

Jupiter's police chief is retiring next month this week for Protecting the Palm Beaches he talks about the importance of community involvement.

"It's something that we have focused on here in Jupiter for many years. We even start out with toddlers. We have a toddler program in the police department. We have a police academy we do with elementary school."

Chief Dan Kerr says that after the challenges of 2020, it's more important than ever that residents feel comfortable coming to the cops and trust that they have their best interests at heart.

"The police department can't do their job alone in protecting the community and keeping it safe. It takes everyone in the community."

The chief says that since the advent of the agency's Citizens Advisory Committee in 2008, serious crimes have decreased by 51 percent.

Chief Kerr will be retiring next Friday and that's when he reflects on his time with the department and we'll hear from the incoming chief, David England.
