  • The Palm Beach County School District is set to launch the Here Comes the Bus app for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year which will send parents push notifications regarding the location of their child’s school bus. The District will start a pilot program this summer which will be tested with the children of school district employees. Martin County implemented the app last year with 75% of families choosing to participate.  
  • Citing “new leadership and changing business conditions” Disney has scrapped plans for a Lake Nona campus expansion which would have led to approximately 2,000 California based employees relocating to Florida starting in 2026. The decision comes on the back of the legal standoff between the state and Disney over the dissolution of the Reedy Creek Improvement District in which Disney had self-governance. Disney and Florida are suing each other in state and federal courts currently.  
  • FIU’s Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach is out with his top beaches for 2023. At the top of the list is St. George Island State Park on Florida’s Gulf Coast took the top spot. Caladesi Island State Park near Dunedin was 4th.  
  • Gas prices are a penny lower today. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is currently $3.43 per gallon – seven cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.67 per gallon, which is the highest price in the state.
