  • Governor DeSantis signed ten more bills into law over the weekend including...the ACME Improvement District and Pine Tree Water Control District, Palm Beach County bill which transfers the Wellington Preserve and Moncada Property from the Pine Tree Water Control District to the Acme Improvement District which is special district under the Village of Wellington. Also, the Boca Raton Airport Authority, Palm Beach County bill is now law. The new law expanded the boundaries of the Boca Raton Airport Authority, included a land transfer to the Authority and updated the rules and governance structure of the board. The Advertisements for Legal Services bill was also signed into law which prevents legal services from using deceptive advertising practices such as use of medical alerts or appearing to make official representations from state and local governments. The Withholding or WithDrawal of Life-prolonging Procedures bill is also now law. The bill allows a court to name a ward for the purpose of decision making if a person is in capacitated. 
  • A new study from FAU has identified plastic as an incubator for bacteria within seaweed blooms. Vibrio vulnificus was found to be especially aggressive in development on plastic within floating seaweed blobs. 
  • FHP has announced they’ll be significantly increasing the number of Troopers on Florida’s roads this upcoming 4th of July weekend in an effort to curb drunk driving.  
  • Gas prices dropped another penny over the weekend. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.35 per gallon – 6 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.51 per gallon, which is the second highest in the state.
