- Tropical Storm Philippe, which forecasters have had trouble projecting, is the lone disturbance in the Atlantic. It’s made its way over the Leeward Islands and is now expected to turn north without a further threat to populated areas.
- Current figures from Step Up For Students, which works with the Florida Department of Education on the state’s school voucher program, show approximately 20,000 students have made use of the state’s universal school voucher program in Palm Beach County for the current school year – with 2,000 students using the program in Martin County. Despite the implementation and use of the voucher program, traditional public-school enrollment is also higher by about 1,000 students.
- Lake Worth Beach has approved a million-dollar pump project to help alleviate flooding issues on 18th Avenue due to King Tides and heavy rain. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2024. The city is also encouraging residents to prioritize “green spaces” over paved spaces as a way to take in additional rainwater.
- Gas prices rose on Monday. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.50 per gallon two cents higher over the past day, though 8 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.70 per gallon, which is the 7th highest price in the state.
