  • A disturbance in the South Atlantic has an 80% chance of development and is expected to impact the Lesser Antilles this week. The coolest temperatures of the season are here with 50’s this morning throughout the Palm Beaches. Record low temperatures for this date are possible for multiple cities across the state. 
  • Governor DeSantis has signed an executive order dubbed “The Great Outdoor Initiative” reducing Florida State annual park passes and fishing licenses by 50% through January 13th.  
  • Two South Florida Republican Congressman figure to be central votes in the scheduled vote for a new House speaker in Congress today. Representatives Mario-Diaz Balart and Carlos Gimenez have indicated they intend to vote for Steve Scalise and Kevin McCarthy respectively as opposed to the consensus conference pick Jim Jordan. Jordan can only afford to lose four Republican votes in order to become speaker. 
  • At a town hall meeting in the Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center, a proposal for a new multiuse raceway and ATV center were proposed along the 20-mile bend in Loxahatchee. Another proposal involves a park near 60th Street to the west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. The County Commission will consider the land swap proposal next week. A formal process to consider next steps will take place after October 30th.  
  • Gas prices continued to trend lower Monday dropping another 2 cents. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.31 per gallon – 13 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.52 per gallon, which is the 11th highest price in the state and the best relative value of the year. Oil prices are about 4% higher over the past week following the Hamas terror attacks by Hamas on Israel and the subsequent war.
