  • Two disturbances are active in the tropics. Hurricane Tammy continues to slowly move north of the Lesser Antilles. It’s expected eventually weaken into a tropical storm turning towards Bermuda by this weekend. A depression has formed in the south Caribbean Sea making landfall in Nicaragua.  
  • One of the five victims of electrocution at Harborside Place in Jupiter on Sunday has died. The electrocutions occurred at the fountain leaving two adults and three children being rushed to St. Mary’s for medical care. One of the adults has since been released, with the other having passed away on Monday. The three children are still in recovery at St. Mary’s. According to Palm Beach Fire Rescue, a person in the water at the fountain was under distress when others rushed in to attempt to help the person leading to the additional electrocutions. A sign posted at the fountain reads “no swimming/climbing/or diving. The investigation into the incident is continuing. 
  • The Department of the Interior has filed a brief with the United States Supreme Court which is supportive of the Seminole Compact which would enable sports betting in Florida. The Compact, agreed to by the Seminole Tribe and Governor DeSantis in 2021, is currently under review by the United States Supreme Court after a series of legal challenges. Chief Justice Roberts asked the Biden Administration to file their response for consideration before the court. A spokesperson for the Interior Department said they believe the Supreme Court won’t choose to take up the case allowing a lower court ruling enabling sports betting to stand. 
  • After matching the lowest price of the year Monday morning, gas prices jumped by 7 cents per gallon over the past day. Statewide the average price for regular unleaded is $3.29 per gallon – 2 cents lower than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.44 per gallon, which is the 10th highest price in the state.
