Chilling Political Theater, Illegal Immigration Crisis & Porch Pirates - Top 3 Takeaways – January 25th, 2024
- Chilling. As a political issue – I get it. Abortion has been and continues to be a winner for Democrats. For this reason, Democrats, starting with President Biden, will continue to run on the issue in the post-Roe environment. As a matter of personal political observation however, the way this has manifested itself in contemporary politics is chilling. Until recently, even for the most ardent supporters of abortion access at the Roe standard of 20 weeks, abortion wasn’t something to celebrate. It wasn’t something that was advertised. Abortion was generally addressed discreetly. Not anymore. President Biden’s campaign message as he’s begun actively campaigning, is to “Restore Roe”. Quoting Biden - (abortion is) “a fundamental right ripped away”. The choice of words in describing what he calls a fundamental right is about as creepy as what he’s been known to do when in proximity to young girls. Speaking of young girls and the abortion issue, President Biden’s first “Restore Roe” rally was filled with enthusiasm for abortion – with incessant cheering for it. To say that cheering for abortion rubs me the wrong way would be an understatement. Wherever one comes down on the issue, can we no longer at least agree that abortion isn’t something that should be celebrated? So yeah, the cheering for and rallying around abortion is and was eerily chilling imagery to take in, but most chilling of all are the demographics of many of the most vocal and visible participants. It’s one thing to see a washed-up hippie from the 60’s with a vagina hat cheering on abortion on demand. It’s taken to a whole other level when you have children, girls with signs in hand, that are loudly cheering on President Biden’s abortion message. It's a new level of depravity in society that’s rife with it. Life, and the God-given gift that it is, is something to be celebrated. Death of that God-given life isn’t. And that’s really the missing link in this entire thing. Any semblance of morality. Children celebrating abortions is emblematic of much bigger issues in this society as we continue to drift further away from what matters most. According to Gallup, as recently as twenty years ago, 90% of Americans believed in God. That’s all of the way down to 74% most recently. It’s not complicated. The further away from a belief in God our society gets, the worse the outcomes are. As I’ve said many times over the years, even an atheist benefits from a greater since of morality in society. If I’m going to error on the issue of abortion, I’d much rather error on the side of life. As a matter of faith, I’d much rather error on the side of God. Far too frequently in our society today the opposite of both is happening. The results are what we see. The “Restoring Roe” campaign by President Biden might be a political winner, but what it represents is the ultimate loser for our society. This is yet another reason why our country is better served with Biden being defeated.

About the only pirates any Floridians tend want to see are in Tampa during Gasparilla, at the Pirates of the Carribbean ride at Disney, St. Augustine at tourist traps, or perhaps on the southside of Duval Street on any given day (though that one in particular is a very specific audience). It’s safe to say that the one type of pirates Floridians never want to see are the dreaded porch pirates...and if a new bill proposed in the Florida legislature passes, we just might see fewer of them. The Theft bill that passed its first senate and house committee votes, seeks to stick it to those who would dare poach from your porch. Under federal law theft from the USPS, mail and packages, is a federal crime. Deliveries from other delivery companies aren’t. The cleverest of the dread pirates know this which is why they have a proclivity for picking the packages that are delivered from other delivery services. The current proposal in the state legislature would make it a third-degree felony for the theft of any property from a dwelling – including porches valued at $40 or more. And for the serial pirates, defined as those who’ve stolen from 20 dwellings or more, the charges would be raised to a second-degree felony. Should this proposal go through we’d likely see far fewer active pirates in Florida outside of the desired locations because a) they’d realize the risk/reward of porch privateering is no longer in their favor and/or b) they’d be spending time in the pokey as opposed to porches.
- Democrats don’t care. In leading a group of Republican senators opposed to Mitch McConnell’s tactics in negotiating a new border bill Senator Rick Scott said this: We have a lawless administration. The Biden Administration is absolutely lawless. The Biden Administration went to the United States Supreme Court to ensure that Texas could not keep their border secure. Our federal government said they do not want a secure border. They don’t want Texas to be able to do their job to make sure their citizens stay safe. And on that note Senator Ted Cruz offered this: The Biden Border Crisis is a humanitarian disaster and Democrats don’t care. Last year 853 migrants died crossing into this country. Alejandro Mayorkas didn’t even know how many died because he didn’t care. When I took 19 senators down to the border we saw a man floating in the Rio Grande who had drowned and Democrats don’t care. Last year thousands upon thousands of children were brutalized and sexually assaulted by human traffickers and Democrats don’t care. Last year thousands of women were sexually assaulted by human traffickers and Democrats do not give a damn. Last year more than 100,000 Americans died due to drug overdoses from Chinese fentanyl flooding across the southern border and Democrats do not give a damn. Now you may say that’s harsh. They care, that somewhere in their hearts they care. Well, baloney because if they cared they would stop it. If you cared about the children being raped at the border you would say no more. When Joe Biden came in, we had the lowest rate of illegal immigration in 45 years. He inherited success and he deliberately broke it. Truer words have never been spoken. Democrats clearly don’t care. President Biden could fix this today. President Trump will fix this in 360 days.
